An hour and a half, this show portrays how Lucy stretches the abilities of the human mind. To me, it was a so-so show, as the various elements that make a good movie was just scratched on the surface. A movie doesn't even have to have much. You just need to be able to get those watching to understand and empathize with the main character.
Lucy, however was difficult to connect with. For a good part of the movie she didn't feel pain, besides the front part where she was chained to the briefcase. The only emotional part of the show was the one where she called her mother out of the blue. Even that wasn't followed up on. I thought perhaps during the time where she could flip back time into history maybe a section of her family's history would show up. But no, all were random connects into the past and that was rather unrealistic, with weird scenes featuring the red indians. No doubt it was interesting, as Lucy could do almost anything, and was almost god-like. But with the subconscious expectation that one can do everything nothing is surprising anymore. Half-expecting that she can single-handedly kill off the chinese bad guys makes whatever action they put in the movie lame. Thats why i thought her supposed supporting character like the good cop she dragged around was more of a prop than somebody she needed around. He even asked that question: why do you need me around for? But no doubt the introduction to the movie was interesting, with the whole manipulation and trickery to get her involved.
The part about CPH4 became un-sciency when they showed how people convulsed and how the neurons fused together, bringing about a very expected ending, where the human can do almost anything. Maybe they could come up with more description about the drug, besides giving generic comparisons and assumptions. Something like " ion influx/ adaptor protein functions" would do, even if its complete rubbish. It would have made the drug so much more believable.
Overall this show had a little bit of everything, the NC16 part coming in when they featured her waking up on the bed and the other one in the cell. It had violence, but the corny type, with classical fat thugs roaming around. It seemed more like half an hour, rather than an hour and a half, maybe because of the simple plot. I still dont know what they're getting at, perhaps just the logical unlocking of the human mind. It would have been better if scenes that they featured had continuations within the film. Perhaps then the film wouldnt feel so segmented and surfacy.
But overall it had entertainment value and would be better off as a novel or a television show.
